My laptop won't connect tto my tv via HDMI cable any more?

i have done it before but it will not recognize it any more. its like the cable is broken or something but i have tried a different cable and it still will not work. i connected it yesterday but today it just wont. i have windows y if that makes any difference. i tried to make it detect it but it cant or won't.
