Please help me with this confusing new yahoo mail 2011?

Ok so I just updated or somewhat updated tto the new Yahoo! Mail for 2011 and so far its been giving me headaches, I've been trying to find the IM, I read other forums and watched the video turtorial and it says just click the lightning bulb icon to log in but the icons not there so now I can't tell whose on or not, also it says if i want to compose a new message such as a new IM message i just have to click on the arrow next "Compse Message" tab, but it's also now there, please can you help me try and get my IM working or can anyone tell me how to go back to my old yahoo window.
