Why are people ignorant towards heavy metal music?

Because of media fed bimbos and their media fed friends, are so easily manipulated by stereotyped definitions instead of actually doing any real research of their own. Which is, again, thanks to watered down acts that are labeled as metal by mainstream press. And thanks to wannabe "metal" shops like Hot Topic, emo & scene are constantly associated with metal when they never were or meant to be.
